Birds and the Bees

Okay, can we just look at this picture for a second...
My eleven year old is nearly as tall as me.
She sometimes borrows my clothes and can nearly fit into my shoes (I kinda have big feet for my height).

Anyway...just wanted to point that out...in case you missed it...which you probably didn't because pretty much everywhere Haley and I go together EVERYONE loves to point out that she is almost as tall as me.

Okay, back to the post....because you're probably wondering about it.
Morgan recently got a book from the library that had a section on reproduction, with diagrams I might add.  She has been wanting me to sit down with her and talk about it...something I probably should have done a while ago...but I admit, I was stalling.  Now, Haley has been to her maturation lectures at school and I've gone over the whole puberty thing with my girls forever ago, but I haven't really talked about reproduction.  I know Haley knows things already (kids talk at school, I know this), but even though I thought it best for both girls to be present for this little chit chat.

Kids need to realize (which I don't think they do) that it's just as awkward for us adults as it is for them.  As uncomfortable as they were I tried to assure them that every kid on earth goes through this...it's kinda like a right of passage I guess.  So I tried to be as cool as a cucumber saying words like "penis" and "vagina".

One child giggled through most of it.
The other was slightly traumatized.

And through it all, phrases and questions such as these were some of the high points that I need to remember forever:

"WHAT?!  My husband will have to see me naked?  And I'll have to see him naked?!!!  GROSS!"
"Mom, this is too much for a girl my age to handle!!!!"
"Wait!  So, you and daddy have done this FOUR times?!!"

Ahhh, good times.
Happy Wednesday ya'll!

Everyday life + Valentine's Day

Last week Piper lost her first tooth!
She ended up pulling it out herself...with a bit of coaxing from me.
It was kinda traumatic for her, but once it was finally out she was all smiles.

Also last week Haley and Morgan had their last day of ski school...I can't believe how fast those six weeks went!

We attended the girls' school Valentine's dinner and art show last week as well.
The girls had a ball and it was fun to see their art work posted around the school.

I worked the entire weekend (Friday -Monday) which pretty much kicked my butt, but we still manged to have a really nice Valentine's Day dinner Sunday.  Ryan brought the girls up to ski that afternoon to meet up with me and then we all went home together to celebrate.  I made my traditional steak dinner with lava cakes for dessert.

I didn't go crazy with the decorations this year since it was such a busy weekend, but I think it turned out to be a pretty nice evening!
Ryan and I gifted the girls with little necklaces which thrilled them to pieces!

And of course Valentine's isn't complete without a smooch or two!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Make Up Monday

It's been a while since I've done a make up Monday...but, I had to do a quick post to share these two items that I have been loving!
Seriously...if you do not own these, you need to add them to your make up stash!
And bonus...they are both drugstore!
First up: L'Oreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara.
This is by far the best mascara that I've ever used!  I have quite a few tubes of various mascaras and I'm always reaching for this one.  It's a lengthening mascara and the wand is super skinny (which I love) so it works super well for the lower lashes too.

Side story:  I was at Target the other week on the L'Oreal isle (picking up another tube of this mascara) and these two little old ladies asked me if I knew anything about which L'Oreal mascara was the best.  I was like, "Why YES, I do!"  And of course I recommended this one...it was hiding on the very bottom of the rack (which scares me a little...are they going to discontinue it??)  Anyway, hopefully this mascara totally rocked this little old ladies world!  I'm sure every time she applies it she's thanking me.

Next up: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser.
This is a fabulous product to brighten your under eyes.  You need the "Neutralizer" one...it's the best!  The formula is super light so it's not cakey at all...it feels like you're not wearing make up at all...honestly.  I even like to put in on my eyelids to create a base for eye shadow too.

Anyway, there you have it.
Make up Monday.

Now, I'm going to go tackle this:
Morgan and Haley decided to switch dressers and some how Morgan's clothes never made it back into a dresser.  Don't worry...I'm not going to do all of it...just enough for her not to be so overwhelmed.  She'll after finish after school, because goodness knows there's way more than just clothes to pick up in that room!

Happy Monday ya'll!

A birthday and more skiing.

Last week we celebrated Jeffy's birthday.
I made my traditional chocolate, peanut butter cake.  I make this cake once a year on his birthday, so if he ever isn't with us on his birthday, I will continue making it in his honor.  Seriously people, this cake is the best!!
Also, last week we took the little ones for an evening ski sesh.
The older girls decided some down time at home sounded better...plus, they have ski school once a week, so I think they wanted a break.

We had such a ball with these two!
And I think they enjoyed having all the attention.

I just recently bought a new ski helmet and passed down my old one to Haley.  That child is growing out of everything!!  Her ski jacket is barely fitting her along with her snow pants...I've decided she can hold out until next season.  I may have to pass down my ski jacket to her and...oh darn...I'll have to buy a new one for myself.  I guess there are perks to this!  I have my old ski boots waiting for her too.  However, I'm pretty sure she'll be too big even for my stuff soon...she may be a tall one, that girl.

This week I'm holding down the fort for a couple of days while Ryan works in CO.
With that, have a fabulous Wednesday ya'll!
