Last Friday

For the first day of summer break I started the day going on a ride up South Fork.  I started the ride alone but then met up with my dad on the way home.   As we were riding home we found a deer caught in between to fence posts.  It was a miracle we even saw it as it was hidden behind the brush off the path.  It was very much alive but as you can see, it was really stuck!  Can you see it behind me?

We called the police who then alerted the DWR to come to the scene.  We heard that they were in fact able to get it out and it ran off...lucky deer.

Then later that afternoon the little ones, Ryan and I headed up to Salt Lake for a crit. Ryan raced in.  Haley and Morgan stayed with their grandparents for a sleep over.
However, the sleep over got cut short...while we were driving home from the race we got a call from my mom that Morgan got hurt.  While Morgan and Haley were playing in the yard Morgan got her feet pulled out from under her and she smacked her head face first onto the cement.  Apparently it was quite a scene with enormous amounts of blood...my mom had to handle all the dirty work at getting her nose to stop bleeding which is good because I probably would have fainted if I had been there.

Ryan and I got home, he stayed home with the little ones while I took Morgan to the urgent care to get her nose checked out.  However, they suggested that I either take her to the ER or wait until the swelling goes down and take her back in.  She said the ER would probably suggest that anyway.  So that's what we did.  I'll take her in Monday to get it checked out again.  This time I'll take her to her pediatrician and maybe they'll refer me to a nose, ear, throat specialist...and we'll go from there.

What a way to start the summer!

School's out for summer!

As of today, it's officially summer around here!  Unfortunately, the weather really hasn't been cooperating lately.  I'm pretty sure it has rained EVERY DAY for about three weeks straight...seriously...it feels like I'm living in Portland or something!  But rain or no rain summer break has begun!

 The girls are thrilled!

Last weekend the girls' grandparents from Sedona came out for a visit.  It made for a very nice Memorial Day holiday as we were able to spend it with all grandparents (my folks are in town too) as well as the girls' uncles, aunt and cousin.  Good times.

I know I'm missing tons...I'll have to post more often so things don't fall through the cracks and get forgotten. In the meantime have a great Thursday ya'll!!

Weekly Race Series: Sundance

Well here we go again!  The Weekly Race Series has begun!

I've actually been riding more this year than I have in years prior...I would even go as far to say that I'm training???  What?  However, it's all been on the road.  This was first day that I've hopped on my mountain bike since last year.  So needless to say I was bit rusty in the technical department and I'm VERY tentative descending...like big time...like I'm really slow!  But you know...I'll hopefully come around in time.

 Mighty Timpanogos in the background.
Beautiful!
Gosh, I love where we live!

Jeffy was giving my girls rides on his bike after the race.
It was super cute.

It's going to be rainy the next few days...so hopefully I'll be able to squeeze some rides in there somewhere.  I'm determined get stronger and better at this sport!!

And thank you Ryan for watching the kiddos while I race!

Happy Mother's Day!!

As you may already know, my parents own a home a block or so from where I live (they only live there part time)...my brother, Jeff, currently lives in it while he goes to school.  Anyway, my mom has a craft room in the basement where she stores tons and tons of old photos.  It is a treasure trove of memories!  So every so often we'll poke around and find some real good ones.

So, in light of Mother's Day I have a couple to share.
Mom and I at Collegiate Track Nationals in Dominguez, CA, (1998 I think).
She's most likely giving some encouragement before my race...or telling me how rad I look.

And isn't this a sweet...mom with little Jeffy boy.
Gosh, I don't even know what year this would be.

I love these pictures!
My mom is patient, kind and always so supportive...I'd be lost without her!
Love you!
Happy Mother's Day!

Back on the bike.

Since the end of ski season I've been trying to stay more consistent with exercising...whether it's walking/running, biking or yoga...doing one of those things at least five days a week.  And so far I've been pretty committed, which kinda surprises me a little.

My goals are: Not to suck so much for the weekly mountain bike races (starting very soon), and to lose 5 pounds (which by the way, I've been at this pretty hard for several weeks now and I'll have you know that I have NOT lost a single pound yet).  But whatever...I know that I'm probably stronger now than I have been in a very long time!  And since I've started road riding a bit more I'm kinda falling in love with it again.  I've started going on rides by myself which is kinda difficult for me, but once I'm out it can be very therapeutic.  And it's so pretty here!!

South Fork Canyon.

Riding this morning with my little brother, Jeffy.
He has quickly become my new riding partner!
Eventually Ryan and I will be able to ride more together too, but for now we have to kinda tag team the little ones.
 The horses up South Fork.

Oh and if anyone was wondering our dogs survived their first grooming experience and I have to say they look like slightly overweight show dogs now!  It was pretty awesome...except for the part that one of them (pretty sure it was Etta) had diarrhea  in the back of Ryan's car on the way home...not so awesome.  Luckily it was on a grimy blanket and they didn't tromp around in it...but seriously...not cool!
But look how pretty they are....Awwwwww!

Happy Monday ya'll!

Happy May Day!!

The girls (plus one friend) and I passed out our traditional May Day bouquets to some of our neighbors.
Luckily the weather has been amazing this week!
A perfect start to May!

Happy May Day everyone!!

Long Overdue Post

I've been dropping the ball with blogging lately, so I thought I would just do a quick update on what's been happening over here the last week or two.

The weather has been glorious lately!  Well, with the exception of a few rain storms over the weekend and new snow in the mountains...but the majority of the time, it's lovely!  We just recently got new neighbors right next door, and they just so happened to have children about the same ages as ours!  So all the children have become quick friends and I kid you not, they play every day!  Some days I'm not even sure where my children are...their house, my house, the water ditch, backyards, and front yards...who knows!  They are busy little children!!  But by evening their heads hit their pillows and they are OUT.  I love that!

Saturday morning breakfast...blueberry waffles.
Morgan HAS to get her waffle/pancake fix at least once a week!  A girl after my own heart!
And do you all own the double decker waffle maker??  This device has changed my life in the whole waffle making experience!!  It's probably my most favorite kitchen tool ever...although I do love my hand blender too.
Haley, busy with her rainbow loom and enjoying the sunny weather.

Kids on my counter...what's new there?

This last Saturday Haley woke up and decided she wanted to cut her hair.  So I made an appointment with our hairdresser friend in the neighborhood on the spot!
She took off over 10 inches and decided to donate it again...what a girl!

Rory with Belle.

This week the dogs are getting a much needed make over!
First, I'm taking them in to get them caught up on all their shots...I'm embarrassed to say that it has been way overdue...whoops.  And then they are getting GROOMED!  Like by a professional groomer!  I'll admit, I've never had them groomed before.  We have always given them baths and cut their hair ourselves...but, I think it's time a professional takes over.  They need help...plus they stink.
Rory with Etta...and no, Rory is not sleeping.
I asked her what she was doing and she said she was playing family with Etta...okay.

In other news, I have enrolled ALL the kids in swim lessons...different classes, but all at the same time too!  They are actually half way through them already.
It's going pretty well...I think.  Time will tell, I suppose.

So that's what's been happening in these parts!

Happy Monday ya'll!!
