First Day of Kindergarten

 Rory started Kindergarten today!
Hard to believe my baby is in school.

She has been looking forward to Kindergarten for so long now, she is just thrilled to pieces!!

It's also hard to believe that I get three (THREE!) hours to myself everyday.

Although, here I am, missing her...counting down to when I can pick her up and see how her day was.
I can't wait to hear all about it!

Happy first day of school wee one!

First Day of School!

How can it be the first day of school already?!!
I admit, I'm not ready...not ready for schedules, not ready for homework, not ready for getting up early, making lunches...but alas, here we are.

The kids were so excited last night!
Each one had their outfits picked out and back packs ready to go!  Too bad it's not like that every evening before a school day, ha!
Haley is in 8th grade this year!!
This is her last year in middle school...I know, I can't believe it either!

Morgan and Piper get to go to a brand new school this year!!
They tore down our old elementary school to make way for a new one.  We were super sad to see the other one go (a lot of memories) but this new one is pretty spectacular!

 Morgan is in 6th grade!!
This is her last year in elementary...she gets to rule the school!

 Piper is in 2nd grade!!
That blows my mind!!  2nd grade!!

Rory has another week before she starts Kindergarten.
So I'll have more pictures of her first day next week!

Happy First Day of School!!

And so it begins.

Ready or not, here we are...another school year already!
Summers just fly by these days.

 Haley started middle school!
Crazy.

Morgan is 5th and Piper in 1st.

And Rory is in Preschool 2 days a week.

They all love their classes and teachers..so far.
And that makes me very happy!
Happy 2016-2017 school year!

The little ones start school!

Today was Piper and Rory's first day of school!

Piper is in Kindergarten...and boy oh boy, was she excited!
But as soon as Ryan and I dropped her off in the classroom she completely freaked out!  It was so heartbreaking, definitely not the goodbye I was hoping for.  The teacher had to help pry her hands off me as she screamed, "Mommy don't go!!!!"  Yeah, it hurt my heart.  I had to leave quickly though because we had to drop Rory off at her preschool.  I later found out that Piper's good friends' mom saw Piper still upset after we left and bribed her with going over to her house to play and have Popsicles...problem solved...she was all smiles the rest of the time.  Thank goodness for friends.

Hopefully, we don't have to go through that everyday.

Rory started Preschool!
I know, my baby is in preschool!  What is happening to my children?  It's like they're growing up or something.
I friend of mine started a preschool this year.  It's just a couple of blocks away and I think it's going to be just perfect for Rory!! And luckily she didn't have any issues with me leaving her...all smiles!  She'll go three days a week in the afternoons, so on those three days I'll have two whole hours with no children...say what???  It's crazy, I know.

To celebrate a little bit of freedom today, Ryan and I went out to lunch!
It was lovely.

Happy Monday!

First day of school 2015

Yesterday was the first day of school!
I can't believe how fast the summer zoomed by!

 Morgan is in 4th grade.
The school hired a few more teachers this year so her class size has dropped down to 19 kids!!  I'm pretty thrilled about that because she had about 35 in her class last year...and from my understanding they were quite the rowdy bunch too, which frustrated the heck out of Morgan.  So, she's pretty excited for this year.

Haley is in 6th grade...this is her last year in elementary school.  I'm so glad they keep 6th in elementary instead of moving them into middle school.  They're still so young to me.  Anyway, one of the perks to being in 6th grade is that they now get a locker...yeah...big time!  Haley already has a ton of ideas on how she'll decorate the inside of it.

Unfortunately, kindergarten doesn't start until the end of next week.  Piper has been excited for school ALL summer, so waiting a WHOLE week is very difficult for her.

And Rory will also be starting Preschool this year too...but again, she doesn't start for another week either.
So pictures on that to come!
Happy new school year!!

Back to School 2014

Our first day of school was a success!

 Haley is in 5th grade!

 Morgan is in 3rd grade!

And my little Piper has started Preschool!

P.S.  That scrape on Piper's nose and forehead is carpet burn.  Yeah, she totally dragged her face on the carpet and that was the result.  I'm pretty sure she won't do that again.

First day of Preschool.

Piper started a preschool this morning.  She is so excited to be going to "school" just like the big kids!  I put her in a preschool co-op in our neighborhood...I've never done this before so I'm very new to it.  But all the moms involved live within walking distance and some I know very well.  The idea is that we all share the teaching responsibilities, and because there are six of us, we teach about every six weeks.  It's only two days a week for a couple of hours, just the perfect thing for Piper right now!  I just felt like she needed something structured this year...so this was a perfect solution!

First Day of School 2013

The girls woke up thrilled to pieces!
We walked to school as a family and gave them tons of hugs and kisses in front of all their friends...I love that little kids don't care about that kind of thing.  And you can bet that I"m going to do it as long as they'll let me!

Morgan is starting 2nd and Haley 4th!!

Student of the Month

Monday afternoon Haley came tearing out of the school toward me shouting, "MOM!!!  I'm student of the month!!!!  I'm student of the month!!!"  And sure enough, there was her picture front and center with all the other grade levels in the hall across from the office.  She is so proud of herself!

Haley has come a long way and has worked so hard this year!
It makes me so proud!
Way to go Haley!

Ryan was out of town these past couple of days so I'm thinking tonight will be a good night to celebrate.
She'll get to enjoy her salmon (one of her favorites) off the special red plate!

School Pictures and Weekend Review

Haley, 3rd grade.

Morgan, 1st grade.
These two girls are so beautiful...how I love them!  I love how the morning of the pictures they had to find just the right necklace...they accessorize better than their mom!

So the weekend...we hit up the library Saturday in search of the perfect Halloween movie for our movie night that evening.  Thanks to Meg for the Shrek suggestion, it would have been most likely the perfect movie, but unfortunately in was checked out.  Morgan found Monster House (kid friendly...or so it looked) so off we went.  Well, I'm sad to say that Monster House basically scared the crap out of our kids!  It was a bit too much for them and I ended up having to fast forward all the "perilous" or "scary" scenes to prove to them that  in the end everything turned out just fine.  It didn't work...Haley and Morgan both ended up sleeping on our bedroom floor that night.  And the last two nights after that they've both been sleeping in Haley's bed.

Movie night fail.

Sunday the girls had their Primary Program at church.  I'm so proud of them!  They sang along with the others and even memorized their lines when it was their turn at the microphone.  That morning Haley practiced all on her own...she sat on the couch and wrote down all the words that she wanted to make sure she said correctly: baptized, confirmed, example, immersion.  Her little strategy worked as she said everything perfectly!  And little Morgan...all smiles and lots of waving to us.  Such a cutie.

Now I best get to sewing...I have a few more things to do on Haley's costume before the this weekend!  Can't wait to show you!  I'm pretty happy with the way it's turning out!
