Jeffy's Birthday.

I'm sorry to report that we haven't had a single bit of snow since the last post...so sad.  However, we're expecting a storm this week...fingers crossed!
The view from the top of back mountain at Sundance...my house is down there in the valley somewhere.

This week we celebrated Jeffy's birthday, and I made this bad boy.

I've made it now for the last several years on his birthday, so I guess this cake has become a bit of a tradition now.

The cake turned out super yummy...and it's a good thing too because I totally spaced on the soup that I served that night and forgot to the beans in it!  Yeah, I forgot to put the beans in my Ham/Bean Soup!  How did I let that happen?!  You would think I could get one of my favorite soups right!  Oh well.

Not much else to report...just a little update to let everyone know I'm alive and well.

Happy Tuesday!

Family Ski Day

I had to work yesterday morning (yesterday was a holiday so the kids had off school), but I was able to get the afternoon off!  So we took advantage of the sunny warm weather and Ryan brought the all the girls up for some skiing.  Now we have never ALL skied at the same time before.  Usually the little ones have to stay home with Ryan or me.  So this was no small task to get everyone on the mountain!  And it meant that Rory had to be in the pack, also not easy.

Let me add that when Ryan and I moved here and went skiing we saw several parents who put their little ones in a pack and skied.  We thought this was absolutely crazy and borderline child abuse.

10 years later...here we are.

But you know...it's so great!  We had the best time having everyone together!  And I'll add that Ryan was very cautious even though he had Rory yelling in his ear to go faster.

This marked the very first time Piper has skied and I was so impressed!  She took to it so well, even throwing in some dance moves on her way down.  What a ham.

It was such a fun afternoon...we'll have to do more often now that we know we can do it!

Instagram and a Party

Last Sunday afternoon...sitting by the fire, playing with Legos in our jammies.

Months ago I joined Instagram, posted one picture to it, then never returned to it...until now.  I decided to give it another go.  I'm definitely a newbie, but I think it would be fun to post a picture everyday...or try to anyway (I would not be surprised if I only last a week, or a day for that matter), but like I said, I'll try.  Follow along if you if like!  I added my link to the sidebar.

Last night Ryan and I went to Sundance's all employee "After the Holidays" Party.  We got a babysitter and everything!  I'll add that last night marked the very first time Ryan and I have ever had a babysitter...a real, paid by the hour babysitter.  Crazy huh?!  We have always had family or friends watch our kids.  I was pretty nervous I'll admit, but I'm happy to report that everything went smooth sailing...I think anyway.  Everyone was alive and well, and our house was still standing...so I call that a win!  I figure since our babysitter has 6 (and another is on the way) younger siblings, she's probably seen it all!  And she could probably handle what ever is thrown at her.

So anyway, yeah, it was fun to get dressed up and hang out with other adults, eat pretty good food, listen to the big man himself (Robert Redford) give a little tribute to a retiring employee and get a chance to win some pretty awesome prizes (unfortunately I went home empty handed...bummer).  But all in all, a pretty fun night.

I worked on Monday, and taught two five year olds that had never touched a pair of skies before how to ski...this was probably the hardest lesson I have ever had so far.  Hard in that it was physically hard!  I've had little four or five year olds before (all the time in fact), but never two at the same time.  And I'm happy to report that I had those two skiing wedge turns by the end of that two hours...go me!  It gets me excited to get Piper out there soon!  I think she'll do awesome!

Now, pray for more snow...we need it up there!

Had to share.

I know Christmas is over and no one wants to look at anything Christmas related for a good 11 months at the earliest...or is that just me?  But I had forgotten about these pictures on my camera and wanted to share.
Morgan had been begging to make Gingerbread Men this year, but my schedule was so busy during the break my answer was always "Maybe tomorrow." when ever she asked to make them.  The days flew by and I was never able to squeeze it in.  So one day when I was making a mad dash to Costco to pick up Christmas dinner stuff I came across these already made GINORMOUS Gingerbread men.  They came four in a box...how perfect is that!  I know it's not the same as making them from scratch with my kids, but when times get crazy us moms just have to do what we can...to survive.

I thought they came out pretty darn cute...and they made fantastic decorations for the mantle!

Tomorrow and Saturday I'm working...and maybe just maybe I won't have a lesson in there somewhere so I'll be able to take advantage of some this fresh pow we've getting for the last two days!

Happy Weekend!

Finally some fresh snow!

It's been a couple weeks since the last snow fall, so waking up to fresh powder today was a welcome sight!  And I'm happy to report that it's still coming down!  It's a good thing too, it was getting pretty icy up at Sundance.  I memorized where every single ice patch was on the main ski run as to not let any little newbies hit it...isn't that nice of me?

Anyway, we are back on a schedule after our two week break.  The girls started school Monday and my work at Sundance has slowed down...I'm now only there three days a week.  My parents have also gone back to Long Beach...why they'd rather be at the beach than in all this snow is beyond me!  Snowbirds...pfff!
Poor Belle.
Her face says it all, "Save me...please!".

After two weeks of being Mr. Mom while I was working...this guy was pretty giddy about getting back to work.

Happy Hump Day!

Flipagrams

Who has made one of these Flipagrams?  Aren't they fun!  I tried my darnest to get it saved and downloaded onto my computer so I can load it onto Blogger...but alas, I can't seem to do it.

So, I'm attaching the link instead.

2013 in a nutshell.
They make me want to cry...in a good way.
